From the recording Bent On Rambling

The Irish Blessing is the first hidden track we’ve done. To be entirely candid, that was not the intent. It was more a function of the fact that we decided to include it after all the layout for both the booklet and the packaging was completed, and we weren’t about to redo it for a song that was just 1:34 in run-time. So… VOILA! a hidden track. As an afterthought, we decided to include this track since it is singlehandedly THE MOST REQUESTED piece we include on a recording. EVER. As always, a great deal of research was done to identify the origins of the song, alas to no avail. Searches of the Mudcat Café, Amazon Music, iTunes, and the Harry Fox Agency’s Songfile database failed to yield any information whatsoever on this particular setting… plenty of other settings, but not this one. We listened to, easily, 400 versions recordings on YouTube… 399 of them being of other settings of the song. The ONE that we did find was from the artist Naptengeri – a singer-songwriter from Hungary with roots in the folk traditions and sounds of nature. Her commentary on her recording of the song… “This Irish blessing is well-known worldwide. For me it is special, because I learnt the tune from my mother, and I couldn't find this version anywhere else, so I find it completely unique.” We credit the song as “Unknown”. (And if you have any info on the song, we'd love to hear from you!)

Lyrics

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm up-on your face. May the rains fall soft up-on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
